Norman Island is a cottage located between Bala and Port Carling, close to shopping, winery, golf courses, water sports and nature. Just off of Mortimer's Point, this is an incredible location. Monday is market day in Bala (seasonal), so come and meet the local farmers and pick up fresh local produce, plus meet some of the area's talented artisans. Nearby is the Torrance Barren Dark Sky Reserve, the first-ever in Canada where you and your guests can stargaze. Hopefully you will be lucky to witness the spectacular Northern Lights. This area is also a great place for day hikes and seeing the wildlife in its natural habitat.
Connected to the mainland with a romantic foot bridge makes Norman Island a one-of-a-kind property. With plenty of dock space for boats, personal watercraft and seating, the perfect place for your next holiday. The island has flagstone walkways and pine needle paths, encased by rock borders most of the way around the island.
Large white birch and pine trees adorn the property; with its natural pathways and a level lot, everyone can enjoy nature at its finest. Surrounded by water, you will find yourself with a calm smile while breathing in the fresh, pine-scented air.
The versatile sports court is here for everyone's enjoyment with many sports to choose from, like basketball, badminton, hockey, volleyball, a tennis backboard and trampoline.
There are plenty of outdoor living spaces on this property, from the large dock facing west, a raised deck with incredible views, to the front deck off the main house, there is a place for everyone. At the east side, there is also a dock with deep water for diving and swimming in a more protected area.
Taking advantage of the natural surroundings, the deck off dock has unobstructed views, sit and wave at passing boats - a true Muskoka tradition. There is a fridge on the dock for refreshments at the water's edge. Enjoy your evenings sitting under the stars, laughing beside the fire pit making s'mores, or roasting marshmallows over the open fire.
When you enter this airy and fresh cottage, you will find large windows and white-washed walls, taking advantage of all the natural light. Lovingly furnished with a Muskoka nautical-inspired theme, you will want to curl up with a book, grab a glass of wine, and take pleasure relaxing in this room. The natural stone fireplace is truly the heart of this home.
The modern updated kitchen with stainless steel appliances, marble counters, and the bonus wine fridge is just off the Great Room.
The kitchen has a pass through/breakfast bar that opens into the Muskoka Room [which is also the dining room], plus another seating area for an additional living space. There is a second eating area that seats 6 off the kitchen that features a large window overlooking the water. Also on the main floor is the Master Queen bedroom to the left of the fireplace, and another smaller Queen bedroom to the right.
The main bath is also located on this floor with a large white marble walk-in shower. Upstairs there is a loft that has two twin beds, a double futon, and a 2 piece ensuite. Just a short stroll from the main house is the Yurt, tastefully furnished with a Queen Bed.

Cancellation Policy by Guest -
Guest may cancel the agreement before150 days prior to the start of the rental period, the deposit will be returned less a fee of $2000 per week of reservation, if rental is under $20,000 per week. For rentals at $20,000 and over, the cancellation fee is $4000/week of rental. If the Guest cancels the agreement 61 to 149 days prior to the start of the rental all deposits will be forfeited. If the Guest cancels the agreement less than 60 days before the start of the rental agreement the Guest is responsible for the full amount of the rent and is not entitled to any refund.
Jayne's Cottages is entitled to treat the booking of any Guest as cancelled in the event that: a) the Guest gives written notification of cancellation; b) the Guest fails to pay the full deposit due or the balance of rent by the time specified above. In the event that the booking is so cancelled, Jayne's Cottages may re-book the property for the period concerned or for part of that period.
