In the heart of Muskoka, 3 minute boat or car ride to Port Sandfield! 5-7 minutes by boat or car from the charming town of Port Carling or Minett, enjoy an afternoon wandering the quaint shops, taking a yoga class or take a scenic boat cruise and stop by one of the many lakeside restaurants. Who knows, perhaps you will even see a celebrity enjoying the peace and tranquility Muskoka offers. This cottage is the ideal location for entertaining family and business associates in a relaxing environment.
PROPERTY
Surrounded by the natural beauty and splendour of the Muskoka landscape, The Drake is a gorgeous cottage located on the southern end of Lake Rosseau, just minutes from Port Carling. Only two and a quarter hours north of Toronto, this spacious, winterized, ranch-style residence offers luxurious living areas for family gatherings, entertainment, dining, and relaxation. Hardwood floors and a traditional Muskoka knotty-pine interior enhances the natural charm and comfort of the cottage.
Located on a very quiet bay, children can play on the rustic swing set, or splash around the shallow sandy beach area. A fire pit awaits marshmallow roasts, or set up a badminton game or practice your putting on the large grassy area. Golfing enthusiasts will delight in the many golf courses in the area, such as Rocky Crest Golf Resort, Windermere Golf and Country Club, and Lake Joseph Golf Club.
The stillness and tranquility of Muskoka living is easy to enjoy from the gazebo right on the water, also a great shaded area for watching the children during the day.
There are also many lakeside resorts and restaurants that are just a short drive away. Port Sandfield and Port Carling are 5- and 10-minutes away by boat, and Lake Rosseau offers incredible water fun and activities. With both shallow and deep water entry, a kayak and a canoe are available to explore the lake - lastly, a 24' boat slip is available for docking your own personal boat.
INTERIOR
Just off the front foyer, guests will find two of the cottage's seven bedroom.The larger of these two bedrooms is also one of the cottage's two master bedrooms.
Equipped for fun and relaxation, a card table in the family room is ready for a game of Crazy Eights or your favourite board game, or you can simply enjoy a quiet evening of television or reading. There is also a TV in the Family Room. Family meals can be enjoyed at a dining room table that seats 12 comfortably, while a fire in the wood burning stone fireplace casts a warm glow throughout the room. The gourmet kitchen comes fully equipped, and a large built-in fridge, a microwave, and a Viking range with 6 burners and two ovens will inspire any chef to prepare delicious home-cooked meals.
Family gatherings are easily accommodated in the large living room. With the knotty pine walls and floors, and the stone of the wood burning fireplace extending across the entire wall, this room exudes warm, rustic charm. Family movie nights are enjoyed with a 50" TV (satellite viewing), a Blue Ray DVD player, and plenty of seating space. The family room, dining room, and living room all have sliding door access to the large outdoor deck.
A bedroom wing off the main living area houses a laundry room with an extra fridge, a separate children's wing consisting of three bedrooms, a 4-pc washroom, and an additional child's bunk bed bedroom. Guests will also find the second master bedroom and 4-pc ensuite bathroom on the main floor of the cottage. This master bedroom enjoys its own private access to the Muskoka room, which overlooks beautiful Lake Rosseau. Access is also granted to the Muskoka Room from the outdoor deck. Off the Muskoka Room is a spacious deck which wraps around the entire back-side of the cottage, which boasts gorgeous SE views of Lake Rosseau, a propane BBQ, an outdoor dining table, as well as 13 chairs and loungers.
BOATHOUSE
On the north side of the property, guests will find a spacious boathouse with living quarters, an entertainment area (with Ping Pong table), two indoor boat slips, and an upper and lower deck, each equipped with outdoor lounge furniture. There are two double beds as well as a two-piece bathroom located in the upper boathouse living quarters
