Lake of Bays is a township within the District Municipality of Muskoka, named after the Lake of Bays and located in northeastern Muskoka. It offers natural landscape with rocks, forests, lakes and wetlands and is adjacent to world renowned Algonquin Park.
It's home to Lake of Bays, one of the largest lakes in Muskoka providing everything from boating and paddling to snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter months. A great place to explore and play, there is plenty to see and do. Parks and Trails, Heritage Walking Tours, beaches and bustling hamlets.
The communities of Baysville, Dorset and Dwight offer a variety of restaurants and specialty shops and, Baysville is home to Lake of Bays Brewing Company.
The Lake of Bays Sailing club offers weekly sailing sessions for all ages. There is also a Lake of Bays tennis club and both are accessible via boat (5 min) or via car (20 min). Home to the Bigwin Island Golf Club, Bigwin Island offers summer memberships to their dining and social facilities and is accessible by boat 5 min or via ferry (20min to launch by car). Camp Arrowhead is at the north end of the lake and is 12 minutes by boat and 30 minutes by car.
Hike to the water tower in Dorset or visit the many hiking trails in Algonquin park which is 30 min away.
A trip to Lake of Bays wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the famous Robinson’s General Store owned and operated by the same family since 1921. It has become a major tourist attraction and is a "must see" for any visitor to the Haliburton or Muskoka area. Do a little shopping and take home a piece of Muskoka!
